Extraordinary General Meeting 2023

Why is Cattle Australia calling an Extraordinary General Meeting?

Cattle Australia has undertaken a limited constitutional review, to improve the operations of the organisation, including the operation of regionally-based elections for a Regional Consultative Committee.

These proposed amendments are the result of a limited constitutional review and are aimed at improving the operations of Cattle Australia. This is a separate body of work to the full constitutional review, which is set to take place in late 2024.

On 4 October 2023, Cattle Australia members voted to approve these amendments with 96.72% of the vote in favour of the change.

Why change from a Policy Advisory Council to a Regional Consultative Committee?

The new Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) will expand beyond policy and will be key to developing strategy around advocacy, consultation of members at a grass-roots level, and engagement of broader society.

The new consultative process will lead to the identification of priorities for Cattle Australia.

The 23-member RCC will be made up of 15 members elected from the subregions plus eight members appointed by the State Farming Organisations.

This will result in the following number of representatives from each state.
